Numerous General McLane students were honored for their achievement in the 2016 National PTA Reflections arts in education program.

Regional winner’s include McKean Elementary’s Sullivan Hess (1st Grade), Hazel Quezada (2nd Grade), Jane Howard (3rd Grade), Kiley Leasure (3rd Grade), and James W. Parker Middle School’s Ellen Eisert (8th), Olivia Sutton (8th), Shannon Mercer (8th), Sierra Griffith (5th), and Regan Luebbert (6th).

The award honors imagination, creativity and interpretation of the theme “Let Your Imagination Fly.” Regional winners were recognized at the 2016 Erie County Reflections Ceremony, held in February.

Regional winners moved on to the State Level. Ellen Eisert was named a State Winner, placing third for Photography and fifth for Film.

The National PTA Reflections program encourages students of all ages and abilities to explore and be involved in the arts. Through the program, National PTA, McKean Elementary PTA, James W. Parker Middle School PTSA and PTAs across the country urge students in preschool through grade 12 to create and submit original works of art in the medium of their choice— dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography and visual arts — reflecting on a specific theme. There also is a special artist division option for students with disabilities to ensure that all students have the opportunity to participate in the program. Students are recognized each year for their artistic ingenuity to bring the theme to life in a way that is personal and meaningful.

Congratulations to all of our students for their hard work and commitment to the arts!
