Edinboro Elementary second grade teacher Heidi Kalicky was awarded the Golden Apple Award this week.

The GOLDEN APPLE AWARD program is a tradition at JET-TV in Erie, Pennsylvania.  JET-TV, in partnership with Edinboro University,  honors local educators who have made a positive impact upon the youth of our community. Students submit written nominations explaining why they are nominating a teacher. Each week during the school year, JET-TV visits an area school to announce the winner.

Edinboro Elementary student Catrina Miller nominated Kalicky, who is in her first year teaching within the District. Prior to working at Edinboro Elementary School, Kalicky served as a long-term substitute within the District and worked for six years in Girard as an instructional teacher’s aide. Kalicky also worked at the Achievement Center and Shriners Hospital.

Every Wednesday, the weekly winner is featured in a special story on Action News24 at 6:00 p.m., and the story airs again on Thursday mornings on Action News 24 between 5:30 and 7:00 a.m.

Congrats to Mrs. Kalicky and Edinboro Elementary for this honor!
