Edinboro students to learn life skills through coffee cart

A new smell will be brewing at Edinboro Elementary, but hot drinks won’t be the only product to show for it.

Through the school’s new Coffee Cart program, students will gain hands-on experience to acquire the knowledge needed to gain real world skills.

Twice a month, elementary students in Mrs. Pituch and Mrs. Jones’s classrooms will sell coffee, tea, cappuccino, hot chocolate and baked goods to staff members.

The students will be involved in all appropriate aspects of operating and maintaining the coffee cart. The goal is to improve communication skills, sharpen math skills and gain a better understanding of money, organization, time management and sequencing.

Profits will be used to purchase classroom rewards. The students will be able to use the money that they’ve worked for to earn and “shop” for things for the classroom.

The “soft” opening will be this Friday!
