Edinboro Elementary School second graders kicked off the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics with fun classroom activities on the character education, geography and history lessons of the Olympics.

Mrs. Dilmore’s class used music and the Olympics to focus on how how the world comes together peacefully during the Olympic games; Mrs. McKissock’s class learned about the Olympic torchbearers and how it takes 14,000 torchbearers to pass the torch  in a traditional event that precedes the opening of each and every Olympic Games in order to learn about the many people working together; Mrs. Parker’s class learned about the different Olympic Games to understand the characteristics that make an Olympic athlete (self-confidence, self-determination, self-respect, etc.); and  Mrs. Williams’ class designed their own mascots as they learned the history of Olympic games and mascots.
