EUP President Visits Edinboro Elementary

Ms. Kupczyk’s kindergarten class greeted EUP President Dr. Julie Wollman with signs and cheers. The newest University president visited Erie County’s Edinboro Elementary School today to read for an hour to a kindergarten class. Afterward, students received books from Edinboro University’s Stuff the Bus fundraiser, a community service initiative where people stuffed a full-size bus with donated school supplies to be distributed to area elementary schools. Edinboro Elementary was one of three schools in Erie, Pa to receive the supplies.

Dr. Wollman visited the General McLane School District in October to get a sense of what happens in the district where the University is located.

The events Thursday were part of Dr. Wollman’s Inauguration Week, which ends Friday with a ceremony at 1 p.m., followed by a reception at 2:30 p.m. and a celebration at the Erie Art Museum at 7 p.m.

Dr. Wollman is the first woman to be named president of Edinboro University. Dr. Wollman took office after a national search in December 2011 following Dr. Jeremy Brown’s resignation. She succeeded Dr. James Moran, who served as Edinboro’s interim president since June 2011.
