The Second Annual GM Community Fun Run is returning to General McLane High School grounds on May 28, 2016.

“This event is a great kick-off to summer for the whole community,” said Edinboro Elementary PTO president Renee Foradori. “Last year we had tons of families and friends that ran the course together and we are hoping to have even more this year.”

Hosted by Edinboro Elementary Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) and McKean Elementary Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), this is a collaborative fundraising event for both schools. Last year was the first time both elementary schools worked together with an event and it proved to be a huge success. More than 270 runners participated in the event, which raised more than $1900.

Obstacle stations are placed throughout the 5k and 1milerun/walk (two different options). A dunk tank featuring Elementary principals Mr. Mike Getz and Mr. Randy White and additional entertainment is also available.

This year, the event will add more color with the hope to have at least three different color stations. The organizations are also working on some new and different obstacles. Elementary art teacher Emily Robertson is designing the run t-shirt this year.

Register by May 2 to be assured a shirt. The registration form can be found here. You can register day of race (9:30-10:30 a.m.), but shirts will not be available. Registration is $15 for each participant and includes: access to the full course & obstacles from 10 a.m. to noon, 1 dunk tank ticket (students only), free bottle of water & snacks and more.

This event is made possible thanks to community members and businesses. Event sponsors include Olympia Sports, Snap Fitness, Nick’s Place (color station sponsor), Laughlin Builders (color station sponsor), and Loesel-Schaaf Insurance Agency. Sponsorship levels vary from $100 (Color Station Sponsor), $75 and $50. To sponsor, call McKean Elementary School for sponsor coordinator Kelly Banks.
