GM students and staff participate in Produce Express

Posted on November 18, 2016, in Events, Lancer Life

Last night, GM students and staff participated in a Produce Express Food Distribution at the Erie VA Hospital for needy veterans and their families. Through this event, they served 62 households serving 122 people.

This was the first Produce Express  (a mobile food pantry) hosted by Erie VAMC’s Nutrition & Food Services and the 2nd Harvest Food Bank. VA dietitians used the mobile food cart to serve a delicious cabbage soup, made with ingredients that were given out by the Produce Express, and the Veterans Miracle Center handed out warm clothes to families in need.

There were volunteers from the following groups, schools and organizations: Second Harvest Food Bank, Erie Veterans Affairs Hospital, VFW Post 740 Motorcycle Riders Group, VFW Post 740 and Auxiliary, Erie Veterans Miracle Center, General McLane High School, James W. Parker Middle School, Fort LeBoeuf High School, Fort LeBoeuf Middle School, and the U.S. Navy Recruiting Command-Erie Station.

Thank you to Dakota Harman, Grant Travis, Elizabeth May, Ian Bridges, Mr. Hager, Mrs. Swanson and Mrs. Lerch for representing General McLane to make this event a success for our veterans!
