GM Students Participate in EUP Adaptive Swim Program

The GMHS Autistic class and Edinboro Elementary Life Skills class are currently participating in an Adaptive Swim Program at EUP.  The students get to swim two days/week for 4 weeks on campus at McComb Field House.  They receive 1:1 swim lessons with an EUP student during each visit.

This adaptive swim program is part of a college course taken by students interested in going into professions such as physical education teachers, nutrition, fitness, etc.  The students are required to prepare lesson plans and motivational charts to use during the students’ time at the pool.  Each lesson is individualized to meet the unique and special needs of each GM student.

According to GMHS Autistic Support teacher Nicole McFadden, it’s amazing to see how much progress all of the students have made over the past several weeks and has been a great experience for the students.
