General McLane School District received Honorable Mention as an “Asset-Building Organization” for the second year in a row at the Healthy Youth Development Luncheon this week.

The award was given to an organization that embraced the Healthy Youth Development’s mission and created an environment that promoted the building blocks of healthy youth development. This is the second year in a row that General McLane School District has received this recognition.

The District’s contribution to a more positive environment for students stems from the General McLane Principal’s Cabinet, a group of high school students who help create a positive environment among students within the District. The Cabinet is comprised of 20 high school students and conducts a variety of assemblies within school and the community, including their annual “You Make a Difference” event.

Healthy Youth Development is an organization that activates communities to create healthy, caring and responsible individuals by promoting developmental assets, the building blocks of healthy youth development.
