Two General McLane High School students placed in Edinboro University’s Journalism Day last week.

Senior Akayla Lewin placed fifth in the Sports Writing Category for her article, “Unified Track Team Takes on State Meet”.

Sophomore Patrick Angelo placed second in the Print Feature Writing Category for his article, “To Cheat or Not to Cheat”. He also won $50.

The students also attended a workshop led by Kate Giammarise, a reporter from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, and Jaime Warburton, an Assistant Professor at Ithaca College, on “Becoming a Better Writer. They also listened to Keynote Speakers D.X. Ferris and Jason Pettigrew, music journalists from the “Alternative Press,” give the key note addresses.

Congratulations to our students!
