General McLane School District welcomes twelve new teachers and ten new employees to the District this year. Throughout the week, we will be introducing many of them!

Mrs. Katy Spencer will be a Learning Support Teacher at James W. Parker Middle School. Spencer has served as a Learning Support at Union City Area Middle/ High School for 11 years, as well as one year as a Literacy Coach / Reading Specialist.  At Union City, Spencer took on the role as the Special Education Department Head for seven years and served on the Restructuring Committee for the District-wide Literacy Initiative. Spencer graduated Summa Cum Laude from Edinboro University with her Bachelor’s in Education and her Master’s Degree in Reading.

Spencer and her husband, Sean,  have three children and reside in the countryside of the Cambridge Springs/Saegertown area. Spencer enjoys working outside (mowing the lawn, working in her flowerbeds, gardening), ATV riding, trapshooting with her husband at Saegertown Sportsman’s Club, and reading when she has time!

Spencer said she is looking forward figuring everything out this school year.

“I hope to make a difference in my students with making academic gains,” she added.
