James W. Parker Middle School hosted their annual Salute to Veterans on Friday. Students, faculty and staff joined together to say thank you to veterans in a morning-long celebration.

Veterans were invited to breakfast before heading to a performance by the 8th Grade Band and a presentation. During the presentation, Mr. Nathan Everhart (a veteran and school nurse) honored veterans present and introduced keynote speaker Lt. Col. Marc Beckage. Lt. Col. Beckage is a Professor of Military Science at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania.

The Edinboro/McKean VFW Post 740 presented the Posting of the Colors.

Students were also involved in the honoring of those who have volunteered to serve our country. The JWPMS Chorus performed a few songs, and four 8th graders read their essays on why they appreciate veterans. Those who read essays included Hunter Andrzejewski, Debra Fiscus, Jacob Powell and Isabella Shay. Tyler Massey and Olivia Green explained “The Poppy” movement and their recent fundraiser to honor veterans; and O’Neill Chalk,  Ryan Kraus, Joe Morris sand Joe Mecurio participated in the Folding of the Flag.

A sincere thank you to all those who have served our country!
