JWPMS Honor Veterans

Erie County’s James W. Parker Middle School held a salute to veterans Friday morning. All veterans were invited to breakfast and then entertained by the band before heading to the annual presentation. Eighth graders were invited to the presentation.

Mr. Nathan Everhart, a veteran and school nurse, gave the opening and closing marks for the ceremony. Mr. Brian Altimier, a veteran and a teacher at the middle school, introduced and honored all of the veterans present and then introduced Mr. Kip Allen, the guest speaker.

Four students — Mikayla Kiser, Kristie Ferrick, Jacqueline Roeback and Joel Linebach — presented their essays on what they would ask the founding fathers.

The seventh grade singers also performed the Natioanl Anthem and “God Bless the USA”. Military officers folded the flags and Edinboro/McKean’s VFW also presented a Posting of the Colors.

This is an annual event for the Midde School. This year, however, they hosted one of their biggest crowds yet with more than 120 veterans.

Thank you to our Veterans and have a Happy Veterans Day!
