JWPMS student recognized at District Banquet

James W. Parker Middle School’s Camille Andrezjewski received her District 28 Patriot’s Pen Second Place Award at the District Banquet this past Saturday at Hickory VFW Post 6166.

The award was presented by the VFW District 28 Commander Don Ramsey.

Andrzejewski, Kaitlyn Dubynskiy, Ian Kennedy, Olivia Mussett were the winners of the 2017 VFW Patriot’s Pen Essay Contest. Their essays moved on to the District 28 Competition, where Andrzejewski placed second. The 2017-18 theme was “America’s Gift to My Generation”.

The Patriot’s Pen Essay contest is for students in grades 6-8, and the national first-place winner wins $5,000 and an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C., in March.
