Let the Pomping Begin!

Today, the District started pomping the objects for the Perry 200 Parade!

The Perry 200 Grand Patriotic Parade will march down State Street in Erie on Saturday, May 25 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. — and the Lancers will be there! General McLane School District will be part of this historic event with multiple involvement in this parade — from our marching band and cheerleaders all the way to our elementary children walking unit, a horse-mounted re-enactor portraying the General and our very own float!

Float building is happening now at the high school and in the bus wash building of the Service Center. You and your family can get involved and be part of this project by helping “pomp” the float! We have the horse, the General, a flag, fire and trailer bed to pomp — so there is plenty for everyone!

“Pomping” involves brushing glue onto chicken wire and pushing little squares of tissue paper into the holes. Pompers will follow the art grid to place certain color tissue paper into specific holes to create the look of the float. It is simple to do and children as young as fourth grade can do it.

We’d love your involvement in this project! If you’d like to know where and when to get involved, call Marissa Rosenbaum at 273-1033, extension 5901 and she’ll help facilitate your involvement.
