McKean Elementary School’s MTSS Program was recently highlighted as Model Program through the Northwest Tri-County Intermediate Unit #5.

As part of their “Spotlight on Model Schools/Model Programs” recognition, each month the NW Tri-County IU 5 selects a school in the Tri-County region that is implementing a program successfully with support from a member of the Intermediate Unit staff.

During each monthly Curriculum Directors, a school leadership team presents to their regional colleagues. Through these sessions, schools share exemplary practices, have access to networking opportunities across districts and learn about the Intermediate Unit services and programs.

McKean Elementary School implemented their Multi-tiered System of Supports (MTSS) to meet the needs of elementary age students experiencing difficulties in school, whether it be academic or behavioral. The team reviews school-wide universal screening data and other district assessments for students and develops strategies that address students’ needs in the regular classroom setting.
