Local ING Representative, Jason Dubeansky presented the ING Run For Something Better Award to McKean Elementary’s Lisa Celeski during last week’s Assembly.

In 2009, ING U. S. expanded its efforts to help fight childhood obesity and introduce kids to the benefits of running, a habit of physical fitness and healthy lifestyle choices through the ING RFSB School Awards Program in partnership with the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD). The program provides a minimum of 50 grants, up to $2,500 to schools that desire to establish a school-based running and fitness program or expand an existing one.

McKean Elementary was one of only 60 recipients nationwide to be selected for this Grant. McKean Elementary Teacher Lisa Celeski applied for the grant. The program at McKean Elementary School is a partnership with Edinboro University. Students from the University’s Health and Physical Education Department will help Celeski teach the students about running.

The program will take place an hour after school three days a week. The culminating running event at the end of the 8-week program will take place in Edinboro University’s Mike S. Zafirovski Sports and Recreation Center (Dome).

ING provided the entire school with orange shoelaces and cupcakes at last week’s assembly. For more information about this program, please visit their website.
