McLane Senior Named National Merit Finalist

General McLane High School senior Emily Tworek has been named a finalist in the 2016 National Merit Scholarship Program.

The National Merit Scholarship Program is a nationwide competition for recognition and awards conducted by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. In each annual program, approximately 50,000 academically talented high school students are honored, but only 15,000 of them are named finalists.

Tworek was named a semifinalist in the fall and has now been selected as one of 7,400 Merit Scholarship winners. She will being considered for the prestigious National Merit Scholarships to be offered in 2016.

Tworek is a member of the National Honor Society, the student newspaper. She participates in Spring Choir, Vocal Jazz, PMEA District and Regional Choir and has participated in musical all four years. She starred as Mrs. Lovett in this year’s Sweeney Todd.
