Pennsylvania Wildlife Commission helps students build bluebird habitats

There was a lot of hammering at James W. Parker Middle School earlier this week!

Fifth grade students in Mrs. Santos and Mr. Sturgess’ classrooms built a bluebird nesting box, thanks to the Pennsylvania Wildlife Commission who donated the wood and hardware for 150+ habitats.

Wildlife conservation officer Mike Stutts did a lesson with the students, helped them to build the habitats and then had students watch a video about the best places to hang their bluebird boxes.

This was part of the fifth grade science curriculum.
