Speaker teaches about Africa based on personal experiences
December 8, 2014, in AcademicsSeventh graders had the opportunity to learn all about Africa’s terrain, unique physical features and climate from a speaker who has seen it first-hand.
Last week, Mike Podwika, of Wyoming, PA, visited the 7th grade Social Studies classes to educate them on the continent. Podwika, who is a grandfather to middle school students Devin and Gabe Bayle, has visited various locations in Africa through safari excursions. Podwika, who has made five visits to Africa since 2002, brought in numerous animal hides, teeth, tusks, a crocodile, and stories when he came to speak with the students.
The students just finished their unit on Africa.
