WJET-TV meteorologists Tom Atkins and Tom DiVecchio visited James W. Parker Middle School today to speak to fifth grade students about the science involved in meteorology, predicting weather, largest snowfalls and some of their most memorable moments of their careers.

Two of the fifth grade science classes were in attendance of the live 20-question presentation. Eighth graders Alec Eisert and Brandon Dedrick recorded the presentation for the entire 5th grade to view.

Atkins and DiVecchio shared some information about what they do at the TV station and some other important weather facts — including the largest hail they have ever seen, the biggest snow storms and this Winter’s snowfall so far. Students asked questions directly to the meteorologists and had the opportunity to meet individually with them following the presentation.

Fifth graders Ramie Plouse, Sophia Allison, Katie Quinn created a welcome video for the visit.

JWPMS teacher Laurie Santos is the Edinboro weather watcher for the station and orchestrated the event.
