McKean students perform “contraction surgery”
October 10, 2018, in AcademicsMcKean Elementary students scrubbed up on Tuesday and became word surgeons.
Mrs. Hoge’s second grade classroom turned into an operating floor for “contraction surgery.” Using gloves and masks, students worked efficiently to repair those broken contractions.
Through this hands-on learning experience, students learned how to identify two words that make contractions and combine them into one contraction. They performed surgery on different words that can be shortened and put back together using an apostrophe.
The good news? No contractions were lost during this procedure!
