Parker Middle School Art Teacher contributes to Women’s Suffrage Commemorative Mural

Posted on August 10, 2020, in Lancer Life

If you drive past 7th and State streets, you’ll see a little bit of what James W. Parker Middle School art teacher Christina Martin helped create.

On the side of the H.A.N.D.S. building there is a mural created to commemorate a century since women earned the right to vote that was created by six women in education, one of which was Martin.

“As a group of artists we feel very honored to use our artistic talent to convey a message as important as the women’s suffrage movement,” she told WJET-TV during an interview on Aug. 3.
